THE BRIEF
To design and create a large-scale, vibrant exterior mural for the outward-facing garage wall of a private homeowner in Fleet. This was to serve as the visual anchor and centrepiece for her newly designed tropical-themed garden.
The homeowner wanted her plain, brickwork garage structure to be transformed into a lush, colourful paradise packed with tropical flora and fauna to fit into the surrounding tropical plant theming of the garden. We aimed to create an engaging, multi-layered artwork that would inspire the homeowner's ongoing garden landscaping and enhance the outdoor living space.

THE BRIEF
To design and create a large-scale, vibrant exterior mural for the outward-facing garage wall of a private homeowner in Fleet. This was to serve as the visual anchor and centrepiece for her newly designed tropical-themed garden.
The homeowner wanted her plain, brickwork garage structure to be transformed into a lush, colourful paradise packed with tropical flora and fauna to fit into the surrounding tropical plant theming of the garden. We aimed to create an engaging, multi-layered artwork that would inspire the homeowner's ongoing garden landscaping and enhance the outdoor living space.
THE CHALLENGE
The exterior brick wall of the garage was made up of a multitude of different textures due to the nature of the brickwork. Painting fine detail and sharp linework, directly onto this raw textured exterior presented the challenge of possibly losing quality in the deep mortar lines and crevices.
As a fully exposed outdoor garden wall in the unpredictable UK climate, the substrate and paint layers needed protection against moisture, frost, UV fading, and seasonal temperature shifts.
The composition needed to feel expansive and immersive, like looking deep into a dense rainforest without feeling overcrowded or cluttered.
THE SOLUTION
To eliminate the rough brick texture, we put together a smooth, flat, plastered concrete slab, directly applied over the garage brickwork. Once cured, the rendered surface was primed with exterior masonry primer, creating a flat, non-porous area ideal for pulling clean lines and ensuring colour consistency.
We organised all tropical elements into distinct background, midground, and foreground layers to establish natural atmospheric depth. The client requested a striking iguana on the right-hand side as the hero element, seamlessly framed by lush canopy leaves, exotic flowers, and tropical wildlife across the midground and background.

Nearly 6 years later, the mural remains a stunning centrepiece for the homeowner's outdoor space, looking as vibrant as the day it was completed. The final design was met with absolute delight by the homeowner and served as the primary catalyst for a total garden transformation. The surface prep and masonry paint application have proven exceptionally resilient, standing up to years of UK weather without losing their original brightness, crisp detail, or colour intensity.
